Everyone must have a beginning and yet no man is an island. It
takes a collaboration effort to raise a child. Through the
facilities of Victorious Life Church, formerly Christ Temple Church, the educational arm of the
University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC) and other foundations
and corporations, Lee A. Tolbert Community Academy became one of
nine UMKC sponsored charter schools. We are now a premier charter school district of Kansas City, elementary, middle school
and expansion to Tolbert Preparatory Academy charter high school.
The Sparrow Community Development Corporation was founded to bring about healthy, sustainable neighborhoods, focus on up-lifting & rebuilding a broad span of the community, and to positively impact the lives of the residents in the neighborhood. Sparrow's role provides information, leadership, and open "live", two-way communication between the local area residents, Lee A. Tolbert Community Academy (LATCA) and other community care entities. LATCA is a facility constructed and maintained in the Sparrow neighborhood span of community re-development projects.
